I was amazed enough by the reaction to the show to learn the story about the “don’t get involved” line, as I realized that following the narrative of our current situation isn’t going to work unless the oppressed, marginalized, and oppressed address their immediate needs and demands in ways that cause community reeducation and constructive change. We believe all voices should be the voice to voice their own concerns about the systemic system and prevent it from trying to take control of how we receive and define ourselves by power. But of course, the movement needs to meet systemic oppression, oppression in our own communities, and also the very nature of the system, in order to change.
